What Will Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey Be About

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey Trailer #1 (2022)

Waterfield revealed some telling plot details during his appearance on Dread Central’s Development Hell podcast, and while he confirmed that Pooh and Piglet are slated to star in the slasher film, they’re most definitely not how you remember them.

“The story is meant to be that they’ve gone on this onslaught from being kind of enraged by what’s happened to Christopher Pooh and Piglet experience a drastic drop in food as Christopher grew up and over the years became increasingly hungry and feral,” he explained.

“They had to resort to eating Eeyore and then Christopher returns with his wife to introduce her to his old friends, and when that happens they get enraged,” Waterfield added. “When they see him, all of their hatred that they’ve built up over the years unleashes and they go on this rampage.”

Blood And Honey Isn’t The Only Kids’ Movie Gone Horror

Back in 2019, The Banana Splits Movie turned a charming 1960s-era TV show into a made-for-TV horror film. The movie didn’t get a good critical reception, a trait that most made-for-TV features share. Regardless, it twisted a once innocent show into a nightmare. More recently though, the kids’ film, How the Grinch Stole Christmas has been turned into a slasher called The Mean One, featuring Terrifier‘s David Howard Thornton as the titular Grinch. These films are only setting the stage for more heinous adaptations to come.

Who Is Directing Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey

As its director, Rhys Frake-Waterfield is the mastermind behind “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.” Prior to the advent of his viral “Winnie-the-Pooh” project, Frake-Waterfield served as a producer on a large number of horror movies, most of which were released between 2021 and 2022 and draw from similarly over-the-top premises. These include films with names like “Dinosaur Hotel,” “The Legend of Jack and Jill,” “Kingdom of the Dinosaurs,” and “Curse of Jack Frost.”

Meanwhile, as a director, Frake-Waterfield’s past work consists of three releases: a short titled “Go Viral,” alien horror film “The Area 51 Incident,” and cheeky Christmas slasher “Demonic Christmas Tree.” Furthermore, Frake-Waterfield’s name is attached to a number of upcoming released beyond just “Blood and Honey,” including “Dinosaur Prison,” “Firenado,” and “Rise of Loch Ness,” all of which seem to indicate their premises in their titles.

Peter Pan’s Lost Boys Are Really Lost

Peter Pan is a character that people love to readapt. From Robin Williams’Hook to the upcoming Disney film Peter Pan & Wendy, there’s no shortage of trips to Neverland. But, to get more on the track of Blood and Honey, the story mustn’t be a charming depiction of an innocent Peter Pan. Instead, Peter Pan should be considered more dangerous than Captain Hook himself. This switch can already be found in the TV show Once Upon a Time.

The image of a shadowy figure flying into a childâs bedroom window is understandably a parent’s worst nightmare. This horrific scene fits nicely with Peter Pan‘s dark source material. But, unfortunately for the parents of London, this is no story as Peter Pan and his shadow are too discreet for anyone to notice. Snatching children from the safety of their beds and flying them to his private island, Peter Pan is an infamous kidnapper. Similarly to Geppetto in the twisted Pinocchio, Pan takes the kids to Neverland to keep his new friends forever. The Lost Boys are simply the first children to fall victim to the shadow.

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey Imagines Pooh & Piglet As Bloodthirsty Killers

Winnie The Pooh Blood And Honey Poster Movie 2022 New Canvas ...

The man behind this horrific vision of some of our childhood favorites as bloodthirsty killers, Rhys Frake-Waterfield, has previously offered some insight into why Pooh and Piglet have transformed from adorable critters into murderous monsters.

So theyve gone back to their animal roots. Theyre no longer tame: theyre like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey, the filmmaker explained.

Amid all the bloodshed and horror though, Waterfield has assured fans that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey will also bring some laughs. Shes having a good time and then Pooh and Piglet appear behind her, chloroform her, take her out of the jacuzzi and then kind of drive a car over her head, he said of one killer sequence. Its scary, but theres also funny bits because theres shots of Winnie the Pooh in a car and seeing him with his little ears behind the wheel and like slowly going over there

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is coming soon to DVD and VOD worldwide.

In addition to directing the project, Waterfield also wrote and co-produced the film.

He told the outlet that the film will see the beloved characters of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet as “the main villainsgoing on a rampage.”

The character of Christopher Robin is set to go off to college, and when he leaves, it results in the two characters revealing a dark side.

“Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and hes not them food, its made Pooh and Piglets life quite difficult.

What We Do In The Shadows

What We Do In The Shadows might be the goofiest and most unconventional vampire film. The unassuming story follows four vampire housemates trying to adhere to modernity without rejecting their traditional lifestyle, which includes finding fresh prey and coming to terms with the werewolves in town.

Taika Waititi doesn’t attempt to deliver a serious narrative, ensuring the many hilarious sequences happen naturally. The characters are polished and unique, causing viewers to wish for a 10-hour cut. Helpfully, the film’s success inspired a great TV show of the same name.

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey: The Plot

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey follows a simple premise: after years of neglect from their childhood friend, Christopher Robin, Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet slowly turn more and more feral and desperate, as they had relied on Robin for food. When Robin stops visiting altogether, the classic characters turn to animalistic killers, slaughtering Eeyore and others before Robin makes a return as a married adult. As a result, Pooh and Piglet decide to take out their frustrations on them and a nearby cabin filled with college women.

It’s a standard setup for a slasher film, but one can’t deny that there’s a sick humor in seeing childhood icons taking knives to throats and creeping along in the shadows. Whether this will translate well into a feature-length film instead of just a trailer, we’ll have to wait and see. Given that the conflict is initiated through Christopher Robin’s “abandonment” of his childhood friends, there may be a message about nostalgia or treating the past with more respect. On the other hand, it may just be Pooh and Piglet slaughtering people for ninety minutes.

Tucker And Dale Vs Evil

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey – Official Trailer

One year before The Cabin In The Woods subverted one of horror’s most overdone tropes, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil brings a bunch of youngsters to the deep forest for a bloody massacre. Tucker and Dale are two eccentric hillbillies whose goofiness causes a bunch of spoiled college kids to take them as serial killers, igniting a series of absurd events.

Most of the time, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil‘s real villain is stupidity. Characters engage in disastrous decisions that often lead up to a painful death, while the two hillbillies try, unsuccessfully but hilariously, to prove their innocence. This will likely prove a horror-comedy parallel with Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey Trailer Transforms Pooh & Piglet Into Monstrous Killers

Pooh and Piglet bring the bloodshed in the new trailer for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Beloved childhood characters are abandoned and have emerged as wild beasts in the trailer for the upcoming warped horror flick, Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey. Released courtesy of Jagged Edge Productions, the trailer provides the first footage from the movie, which finds treasured icons Winnie the Pooh and Piglet as slasher killers after they are left alone by Christopher Robin. Check out the first trailer for Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey below.

As every child knows, Christopher Robin befriended Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, and their friends, playing games and also providing them with food. What we all dont know, however, is that as he grew, these visits became more infrequent, as did the food supply, causing Pooh and the others to grow increasingly hungry and desperate.

When Christopher went off to college, his visits to the 100 Acre Wood stopped completely, causing Pooh and Piglet to become completely feral and unhinged. Which sadly resulted in Eeyore getting killed and eaten at some point. Now, Christopher Robin has returned to the forest alongside his new wife, hoping to introduce her to his old friends. Unfortunately for them, Pooh and Piglet will not forgive that easily, with the pair going on a murderous rampage for human flesh as they antagonize a group of university girls who are occupying a rural cabin.

Public Domain In The United States

This article is missing information about the public domain status of documentary evidence in court cases. Please expand the article to include this information. Further details may exist on the talk page.

Works are in the public domain if they are not covered by intellectual property rights at all, or if the intellectual property rights to the works have expired.

All works first published or released in the United States before January 1, 1927, have lost their copyright protection, effective January 1, 2022. In the same manner, works published in 1928 will all be in the public domain as of January 1, 2024, and this cycle will repeat until works published in 1977 all become public domain on January 1, 2073. From 2073 works by creators who died seven decades earlier will expire each year. For example, if a creator were to die in 2002, their works copyright would last throughout the end of 2072 and enter the public domain on January 1, 2073.

Works that were published without a copyright notice before 1977 are also in the public domain, as are those published before 1989 if the copyright was not registered within five years of the date of publication, and those published before 1964 if the copyright was not renewed 28 years later.

Section 203 Of The Copyright Act

Although there is support in the statutes for allowing work to be dedicated to the public domain, there cannot be an unlimited right to dedicate work to the public domain because of a quirk of U.S. copyright law which grants the author of a work the right to cancel “the exclusive or nonexclusive grant of a transfer or license of copyright or of any right under a copyright” thirty-five years later, unless the work was originally a work for hire.

Variety also reports that the upcoming horror film was shot near Ashdown Forest, which was the location that inspired Hundred Acre Wood.

Although the filmmaker did not reveal the budget for the film, he did tell the outlet it is not a Hollywood-size budget.

He said fans “shouldnt be expecting this to be a Hollywood-level production.”

The new film was produced by Jagged Edge Productions. Waterfield runs the company along with co-producer Scott Jeffrey.

ITN Studios will be responsible for the film’s distribution.

What To Expect From Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey

As part of Screen Rant‘s Winter Movie Preview, the exclusive first-look image from Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey reveals Pooh from an up close and personal angle. His face is splattered with blood and his chin is dripping with a liquid that may very well be honey, underscoring the title of the film. The look on his face is undeniably hungry, and his expression is sinister though he is smiling. It is clear that he is not a bear to be messed with, and he’s certainly not one that will soon forgive an abandonment as traumatizing as Christopher Robin’s.

The trailer for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honeyopens with Christopher Robin and his beloved Mary returning to the Hundred Acre Wood. Though she is at first skeptical of his tall tales of befriending talking animals, Mary soon becomes convinced it is time to turn back when they come across a grave for Eeyore. But Christopher desperately wishes to learn what became of his childhood companions, and so they make their way toward what is now a den of depravity.

Who Is Starring In Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey

As its creators have specified throughout the film’s making, “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” is a decidedly independent production, so its cast is largely comprised not of marquee names but actors whose past experience consists predominately of other independent horror projects.

Craig David Dowsett stars in “Blood and Honey” as the titular Winnie-the-Pooh. Dowsett’s past work is limited to a single horror film, titled “The Area 51 Incident,” likewise helmed by the director of “Blood and Honey.” Meanwhile his partner in crime Piglet is portrayed by Chris Cordell, whose filmography spans a handful of horror projects through 2021 and 2022, also including “The Area 51 Incident.” Rounding out its stable of legacy characters is another relative newcomer, Nikolai Leon, as Christopher Robin.

Playing Pooh and Piglet’s victims, meanwhile, are Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, Danielle Ronald, Natasha Tosini, May Kelly, and Natasha Rose Mills. Paula Coiz plays Christopher’s fiancee Mary, who is presumably also a part of this group.

Public Domain In Copyrighted Works In The United States

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey – Official Trailer (Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor)

Congress has restored expired copyrights several times: “After World War I and after World War II, there were special amendments to the Copyright Act to permit for a limited time and under certain conditions the recapture of works that might have escaped into the public domain, principally by aliens of countries with which we had been at war.” Works published with notice of copyright or registered in unpublished form in the years 1964 through 1977 automatically had their copyrights renewed for a second term. Works published with notice of copyright or registered in unpublished form on or after January 1, 1923, and prior to January 1, 1964, had to be renewed during the 28th year of their first term of copyright to maintain copyright for a full 95-year term. With the exception of maps, music, and movies, the vast majority of works published in the United States before 1964 were never renewed for a second copyright term.

On January 1, 2020, published works from 1924 entered the public domain. Among the more notable entries into the public domain in 2020 was George Gershwin‘s “Rhapsody in Blue“, a musical work that the Gershwin estate famously fought to keep in copyright.

Is There A Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey Trailer

Jagged Edge Productions released the first official trailer for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey on Aug. 31. Within the nearly two minute-long clip, it’s safe to say that the slasher film features far more blood than it does honey.

The trailer begins with Christopher Robin and his female love interest on a trek to find Pooh and Piglet, whom Christopher says were his “friends of many years.” As the couple walk into the eery forest, a weathered jar of honey flashes on the screen, in addition to a wooden sign that reads “100 Acre Woods” in what appears to be you guessed it blood.

With suspenseful music building in the background, his love interest spots another sign that reads “Eeyore R.I.P.” followed by her suggestion to “quickly leave,” but Christopher insists that they stay.

Quickly, chaos ensues. Pooh appears on the screen, in a manner that is far from cuddly and Piglet is no different, as he’s pictured with an ax on a killing rampage. The suspenseful music then combines with screams for a trailer that seriously sets the scene.

When Will Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey Be Released

The general public first learned of “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” around May of 2022, at which point filming had already wrapped according to an early profile that Variety published around that time. The “Blood and Honey” team, it turns out, was able to conclude filming in just 10 days. Fittingly, the project was filmed near the Ashdown Forest located on the outskirts of East Sussex, England, which once served as inspiration for the Hundred Acre Wood in which “Winnie-the-Pooh” takes place. Then, after receiving positive responses to early still photos of “Blood and Honey,” its creators decided to expedite its release in order to make the most of the growing momentum behind it.

As a result of this quick turnaround, “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” will hit theaters in the United States on February 15, 2023, albeit with a caveat “Blood and Honey” will premiere as a single-day theatrical engagement, so those interested in catching it in theaters will have to plan to see it that very day. “Blood and Honey” will also screen in the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico and some additional countries, though whether or not it will remain in theaters for a longer period of time worldwide has yet to be announced.
