The Precious Blood Of Jesus
Think with me about the last hours in the life of Jesus. Everyone falters. Caiphas judges. Peter denies. Judas betrays. Simon of Cyrene balks. Mark runs away. Pilate equivocates. The crowd mocks. The soldiers gamble. Longinus still stabs with his pilus. The centurion still carries out his orders. And as blood and water spew from his side, the complacency of all creation is eternally shattered. “The scourging alone seems to never end, and you cringe at the sound and splatter of every blow – no matter how steely your nerves. Even those who have known combat or prison would have trouble viewing this scene, no matter their experience…
Access To God’s Presence
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Wow! Bold access to the very throne of God.
I wonder if we can appreciate what that means, the magnitude of what God is offering us?
ILLUS – Because when I was thinking about this, I was reminded of the time in the book of Esther when Mordecai was encouraging her to petition King Ahasuerus. Her response was, “I can’t do that! The king has but one law. Anyone who goes into the inner court of the king without being invited must be put to death, unless the king holds out the golden sceptre to them.”
And even though she was the queen that law applied to Esther.
The king was completely unapproachable except by invitation.
But God is no ordinary earthly king: He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, Creator and Master of the universe.
So how approachable is He?
According to Ex 33:20, no one can see God and live.
His presence is too holy.
Nobody was allowed to touch the Ark of the Covenant which represented the presence of God.
When the Ark was being transported to Jerusalem and began to tip, Uzzah stretched out his hand to steady it and was immediately struck dead.
When the Ark of the Covenant was finally in the Holiest Place in the temple, nobody could go in and see it except the high priest once a year.
God’s presence was regarded as very holy, and access into God’s presence was extremely limited.
Jesus Blood Speaks Better Things: Mercy
Hebrews 12:24, New King James Versionto Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
Genesis 4:10, New International VersionThe Lord said, What have you done? Listen! Your brothers blood cries out to Me from the ground.
Cain was jealous when God rejected his offering and accepted his brothers, so he killed his brother. The day that Cain murdered Abel, he did not just kill one man but crushed an entire generation of families. The blood of Abel was screaming before the throne of God to be avenged, because the generations confined within Abel would never see the light of day once he died. So why does the Bible say that Jesus blood speaks better than Abels?
When you covenant with Jesus you are covered by the blood that screams mercy over your life. We need to come to the revelation that everything we acquire in life, we acquire by mercy. There is no room for condemnation or guilt because His blood speaks redemption, and forgiveness.

The Problem Of Sin Demands A Solution
Jesus blood speaks better than the blood of Abel, which means it perpetually calls down justice and mercy from the throne of our almighty Father. We read in the fourth chapter of Genesis how Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve, were together in a field, and Cain killed Abel in a fit of jealousy. This is what happened next:
The Lord said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? He said, I do not know. Am I my brothers keeper? And He said, What have you done? The voice of your brothers blood cries out to Me from the ground.’
The blood-soaked earth was crying out for recompense, saying, Do something! Punish this man for murdering his innocent brother!
The blood cried out because of the following principle, which runs throughout Scripture: The life of the flesh is in the blood . Abel was innocent of wrongdoing, and that fact gave loud voice to the silent, red pool saturating the soil around his fatally injured body.
Sin persisted in rampaging throughout the world. Over the passage of years, Abels innocent blood continued to cry out in vain wherever human sin did its dirty work. Nothing could permanently take away the stain of sin, certainly not eye-for-eye vengeance or the blood of animal sacrifices instituted under the Law of Moses. Nothing sufficed until Jesus, the Son of God, the Lamb of God, came onto the scene. His bloody crucifixion paid the price for sin once and for all.
Why Is The Blood Of Christ So Important

Until the time of Jesus, the only way a person could be forgiven was on the Day of Atonement when they would bring an animal for sacrifice.
Now I know that this sounds bloody to todays society, but 2000 years ago it was not uncommon.

Even today animals are sacrificed for us in the name of food.
Hamburger and Chicken do not come from the grocery store.
There is power in the blood.
If you dont believe me just drain yourself of 4 pints and see what happens to you.
You will die!
It was the blood sacrifice that was offered to God that cleansed a person from sin for another year.
But it was not a long-term solution. Bulls and goats blood could not eternally cleanse us from our sins. That is why something else was needed.
When Jesus willingly went to the cross as an innocent and sinless man, the eternal solution for sin was made. Just as Paul said in Romans 5,
18 Therefore, as through one mans offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Mans righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one mans disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Mans obedience many will be made righteous.
Just as sin entered the world through one man, the price for sin was paid by one man. The sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross was that payment.

I cant believe Im writing this, but sadly its true People have forgotten about the power of the blood of Jesus.
You do not hear people preaching about it anymore. Only a few do it.
How could something so important to us christians be ignored?
We have replaced the message of the powerful blood of Jesus with feel good empty sermons.
The devil must be behind all this, he doesnt want people to know about the blood that defeated him in calvary and rendered him powerless. He wants to keep christians like you the same way: powerless and defeated.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony
Revelations 12:11
Im sorry to say this, but if your Pastor does not preach about the blood of Jesus, then you need to find a new church. We are living in hard times and you do not need to waste time with goofy sermons. You need the truth and the power of the gospel.

We Have Our Consciences Cleansed
he blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God
This is an amazing promise, Christ cleanses our consciences from acts that lead to death! How does He do it? He offered HimselfHis unblemished, perfect lifeas a sacrifice to God for us on account of our sins.
Even though our minds have been corrupted by sin, Christ can cleanse us. We are able to live and think the way God wants us to once again. This is great news for those who are burdened by a sinful past and corrupted consciences.
How Does Jesus’ Blood Protect Believers
If Jesus blood courses through our veins, then we are protected from the attacks of the enemy. How? Because Satan is nicknamed Lord of the flies . So, when we become covered by the blood of the Lamb, then Satan must flee, because the enemy is only attracted to death.
Theres a reason why Jesus was sacrificed at the time of the Feast of the Passover. This was a day when the Jews would remember when God protected the children of Israel from destructive plagues. How were they protected? Because of their obedience in covering their doorframes with the blood of unblemished lambs.
Exodus 12:13 says, But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.
This was a foreshadow of what was to come in Jesus. Those of us who, by faith, remain beneath the covering of the blood of the Lamb, will be protected from the enemy and his demons. This blood protects us, providing us with an exodus, from the penalty of our sins.
Jesus volunteered Himself to be our Passover.

Why Should All Christians Know About This
Romans 3:25a says, God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his bloodto be received by faith.
This faith must be consistently active and displayed through obedience because faith without obedience is dead . We cannot claim to be covered by Jesus blood if we, in rebellion and lack of faith, walk out from beneath its covering.
Peter says, in 1 Peter 1:2, that we are elect according to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Christ. He then tells us that we, as a holy priesthood, are to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ .
In The Power of the Blood, H.A. Maxwell Whyte says, As the priests offered up daily blood sacrifices on behalf of the people in Old Testament times, so also today in New Testament times we offer the Blood of Jesus Christ to God as our plea on behalf of ourselves, our children, our loved ones
As we know, the old rules of worship and sacrifices are an illustration pointing to the present time . The earthly tabernacle was based on the heavenly one. Once a year, the High Priest went within the Holy of Holies to sprinkle the animal blood along the mercy seat. Gods glory was only evident when the blood was used. This was the only way in which the Priest could come before Gods throne.
Likewise, we, too, can only approach Gods throne by the sprinkling of Christs blood.
This, again, is an active form of sprinkling.
A life granted to us by the power of the blood of the Lamb.
We Enter The Presence Of God Through The Blood Of Christ
Another thing that the blood of Christ provides is our entrance into the presence of God.
When we pray, we are not just praying to the air. We are entering into the presence of God.
We are able to boldly go before the throne of grace because of the blood of Christ.
You are able to walk up to your heavenly Father and sit on His lap and tell Him everything that is on your heart because of the blood of Jesus.
Your enjoyment of the presence of God in your life was bought at the price of Christs sacrifice. In Ephesians chapter 2 it says,
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
So take a moment and thank God for the blood of Jesus and the sacrifice that was made on Calvarys cross.
When the soldier pierced Him in His side and His blood flowed to the ground, it was for you.

Benefits Of The Blood Of Jesus
In the Scriptures, we can find at least seven benefits concerning what the blood of Jesus has done for us.
We overcome the devil and his works when we testify to what Jesuss blood has accomplished. We become like those believers who are already in heaven, having followed Him faithfully all the way: They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death .
Jesuss triumph over the powers of darkness is reinforced whenever we agree with and declare the benefits of His precious shed blood.
But before we fully grab hold of the benefits, we must understand the problem.
The Blood Of Jesus Marks You

Do you remember the story of Egypt and the 10 plagues?
One of those plagues was the death of the first-born children.
God instructed the children of Israel to mark their houses with the blood of a lamb. That night when the angel of death went about killing the first-born children of Egypt, he passed over the homes of the children of Israel because their homes were marked.
That blood on the doorpost of their homes was more than a stain. It signified that the children of God were inside and the angel of death had no authority over them. They were marked by the blood.
Now you, as a born-again child or God, you are marked by the blood.
Everywhere you go, the devil can see the blood.
Everywhere you go, the blessing of God is on you, His favor is on you, His grace is with you and His angels protect you.
You are not just a person. You are a child of the Almighty God marked by the precious blood of Jesus!

The Prophesy Of The Blood Of Jesus
From the very beginning of human history, it is revealed. When Adam and Eve sinned, God shed innocent blood in order to make them clothes from animal skins . This is a picture of the covering of righteousness that we receive when the Lord Jesus Christ died for us.
In Genesis four we read that Adam and Eve had two sons, Cain and Abel. They instinctively wanted to worship God. Cain sacrificed the fruit of the ground. Abel had already learned that God demanded blood, so he brought a lamb. God accepted the blood of Abel’s lamb, but He did not accept Cain’s offering. Why? Because “without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin” .
And God told Abraham to sacrifice his long-awaited son Isaac . Just before Abraham plunged the dagger into the quivering heart of his son, an angel stopped him. Abraham saw a ram caught in a thicket. Isaac was set free, but an innocent animal’s blood was shed instead.
Then, God wanted to deliver His people from bondage in the land of Egypt. On the night of the Passover, God instructed each house to slay a lamb and put the blood on their door. God said in Exodus 12:13, “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.”
And in the tabernacle and later in the temple, thousands upon thousands of sheep, oxen, and turtle doves were killed and their blood spilt as sacrifices for sin.
As we’ve seen – the blood of Jesus is throughout Scripture. What does the Blood of Jesus mean for us today?
